Steve Martin

“If you lean in real close, this tweet smells of lavender.”

The Ten, Make that Nine,
Habits of Very Organized People.
Make That Ten. The Tweets of Steve Martin.

On October 27th at 5:17 PM, Steve Martin made an audacious announcement that shook the very foundations of the Twitterverse itself: “Due to absolutely no demand, I’m publishing a book of my tweets.” Steve Martin is one of our heroes, so we needed no reassurances that his satirical sendup of Twitter could be just as hilarious on ink and paper as it is online. And if anyone’s tweets are worth dog-earing, Steve Martin’s are. Case in point: “Just saw a duck in the shape of a cloud.”

As a man of many titles—comedian, actor, novelist and banjoist—we were surprised that he left the art direction up to us. Grabbing the reins, we teamed up with another humorist we admire, Serge Bloch, whose illustrations resemble what we imagine Steve Martin’s cocktail napkins might look like after an evening sitting through the Oscars. The tweets themselves are grouped by topic and preserve Martin's banter with his audience, giving followers of his witticisms, punchlines, and adventures in jury duty an experience they can’t find online.
